An anvil pruner is a type of cutting tool that is used to prune woody plants, such as shrubs and trees. It consists of a sharp blade that cuts against a flat surface, called an anvil, creating a crushing action that severs the branch. An anvil pruner is suitable for cutting dead or dry wood, but not for live or green wood, as it can damage the plant tissue and prevent healing. An anvil pruner should be cleaned and sharpened regularly to maintain its performance and prevent the spread of diseases.
This model has 400mm deep cutting blades with a whole unit length of 215mm. As with many Rolson gardening products these are designed for long use so are strong yet light. They have an opening adjuster switch so you can control how wide they open when the grip is released – saving your energy.
